Bayern Munich’s preparations for the crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal have been thrown into disarray by a spate of injuries to key players.
The Bundesliga giants will be without wingers Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry for the second leg, potentially tipping the scales in Arsenal‘s favour.
Coman’s latest setback, a thigh injury sustained with no other player near him against Cologne, is particularly concerning.
The injury-prone French international has already missed significant time this season, and his absence could be a major blow to Bayern’s attacking threat. There are even fears this latest injury could jeopardise his participation in Euro 2024 with reports he was taken straight to hospital due to the severity of the injury.
Gnabry also sidelined
Adding to Bayern’s woes, Serge Gnabry has also been ruled out with a muscle problem.
The loss of both wingers leaves coach Thomas Tuchel with limited options on the flanks, potentially forcing him to reshuffle his attacking lineup.
While Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané are expected to return after being rested against Cologne, the injuries to Coman and Gnabry could hand Arsenal a significant advantage.
About the player’s Thomas Tuchel said, “Two will hopefully be back and two seemingly definitely out.” Meanwhile, a statement from Bayern said, “Kingsley Coman will be out of action for FC Bayern for several weeks after the forward suffered an injury in his right adductor muscle.”
