Multiple German sources report that Arsenal are interested in bringing Donyell Malen back to the club, though they aren’t the only Premier League side in the mix.
Last month, Christian Falk of BILD reported that Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal are all interested in Donyell Malen this summer.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany denied the interest from Manchester United, suggesting the club are not seriously pushing for Malen at this stage.
But Plettenberg added that Liverpool and Arsenal are indeed after Malen.
Plettenberg and fellow Sky Sport Germany reporter Patrick Berger write that Malen wants to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and a transfer is expected.
Dortmund are open to a sale, though they want €40-50m (£34.2-42.8m) all-in.
Malen has a contract until 2026, and he has 18 direct goal contributions in his 33 games for the Bundesliga club this season.
The 25-year-old former Arsenal academy winger is also a Dutch international, featuring in nine of the Netherlands’ last 10 games.
It’s been six-and-a-half years since a young Malen left Arsenal to join PSV Eindhoven, but he’s suggested he’d be open to a return.
“I think because I played in England as a youth player, then that is a dream to play in the Premier League,” Malen said in February. “My favourite club is Arsenal.
“Yes [I would go back]. I played there in the academy, I really wanted to break through there. So yes.”
