Bayern Munich’s travelling fans will not be in attendance at the champions league quarter-final against Arsenal at the Emirates as they are banned
It was almost inevitable that Arsenal, on their first foray back into the Champions League in seven years, would get Bayern Munich at some point.
And so it came to pass at the Champions League draw that Arsenal learned they would need to beat Bayern Munich and Manchester City or Real Madrid if they want to reach the Champions League final this season.
Arsenal handed Champions League boost as Bayern Munich grapples with injuries
11 years ago, Arsenal almost pulled off a miracle in Munich when they won 2-0 at the Allianz after losing 3-1 at home. I know it was 11 years, as the night they crashed out on away goals after coming so close was also the same night I got my dog.
After that, things between Arsenal and Bayern Munich got even more traumatic and this quarter-final is a chance to finally soothe the festering wound that still remains from the 10-2 debacle.
Despite being well behind Granit Xhaka‘s Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, this is still Bayern Munich and they will arrive in London with the still-trophyless Harry Kane looking to do what he does best – dive to win penalties against Arsenal. The first leg will be crucial and Arsenal will know they need a solid result to take back to Germany.
In that, the Arsenal fans can help and they will have the whole ground to themselves with Bayern’s fans banned from the game.
UEFA dished out the punishment after they threw flares onto the pitch during Bayern Munich‘s last-16 win over Lazio in the last round.
Speaking about the tie, Bayern’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, who is expected to be out of a job in the summer, said of facing Arsenal, “We certainly have the most difficult path ahead of us that you can imagine.
“We now face one of the best teams in Europe. They’ve been playing consistently at the top level for two years. They score a huge number of goals. We’ll be ready, though. We know our qualities.”
Thomas Muller “I’m waiting on you”
Thomas Muller took to social media to react to Bayern Munich’s Champions League draw against Arsenal. Directly addressing Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, Muller highlighted the history between the two clubs, noting the high stakes of this quarter-final tie and the potential for a thrilling encounter.

Both teams have changed significantly since their last meeting seven years ago. Arsenal has transformed under Mikel Arteta into genuine title contenders, while Bayern surprisingly trails in the Bundesliga.
This will not be the same as then.
