Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Arthur Melo but after his injury-ravaged loan spell with Liverpool in 22/23, the rumours died away. Now they’re back…

Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, currently on loan at Fiorentina, has reportedly caught the eye of both Arsenal and West Ham United. With his impressive performances in Serie A, the Brazilian could be poised for a Premier League comeback at a bargain price.

Arthur’s stint at Liverpool last season was seriously disrupted due to injuries that limited him to just one 13 minute Champions League group stage appearance. During that season, he made the bench seven times in the Premier League but didn’t make it on to the pitch for a single minute.

However, his current form with Fiorentina, where he has made 37 appearances, suggests he has moved past those problems. He’s a consistent presence in Vincenzo Italiano’s squad, racking up a couple of assists, going a long way in rebuilding his reputation.

Juventus, facing financial constraints, are unlikely to retain Arthur. They appear to be targeting a summer move for the 27-year-old to a Premier League club, seeking a fee of around €20m (he’s valued at €15m). This is being touted as an intriguing opportunity for either Arsenal or West Ham.

His technical abilities and experience could add depth to either London club’s midfield and with the Gunners likely to lose Mohamed Elneny at the end of his contract this summer he could be a decent squad player. Additionally, the possibility of a loan with an option to buy could reduce the risk for both Arsenal and West Ham.
