William Saliba has revealed what was said at half-time of Arsenal’s match against Brentford, following Aaron Ramsdale’s error.

Though Arsenal came away from the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night with all three points, their game against Brentford was far from straightforward.

The Gunners took an early lead through Declan Rice, but the opposition were handed an equaliser on the stroke of half time as Aaron Ramsdale delayed a little too long with his clearance.

There was no hiding from the error, but William Saliba said afterwards that the team spoke at half time about making sure they still secured the victory.

“We said we have to come back in the second half to win,” Saliba said after the game.

“Everyone has made mistakes. Last month, I made two mistakes and my team saved me. So we have to be together like this.

“Second half, it’s the reverse, because they had three good chances and he (Ramsdale) saved us. So that’s a good mentality from the team.”

It’s true that Ramsdale made a couple of great saves in the second half, most notably from Ivan Toney.

Toney’s surprise shot from distance could easily have gone in on another day, but the goalkeeper made a top save to ensure the scores stayed level.

In the end, that allowed Kai Havertz to score the winning goal, and the team succeeded in putting the first-half mistake behind them.
