Arsenal and England fans were dealt a blow as Bukayo Saka left the England camp due to a minor muscle problem.

The young winger, a key player for both club and country, has been managing an Achilles issue and this latest setback prevents him from training with the squad ahead of friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

Saka’s absence is a precautionary measure ahead of a vital run-in for Arsenal, who are chasing the Premier League title and competing in the Champions League.

With the crucial clash against Manchester City looming after the international break, Arsenal will be monitoring Saka’s fitness closely. Details surrounding the injury haven’t been released by either the FA or Arsenal, but the news will undoubtedly raise concerns for both parties.

This early departure from the England camp also disrupts Gareth Southgate’s plans for the friendlies, although few Arsenal fans will care about that. Saka was expected to be part of England’s first-choice front three alongside Harry Kane and Phil Foden. Southgate may now turn to Marcus Rashford to fill the void on the left flank against Brazil.

For Arsenal, the hope is that Saka recovers quickly and is available for their next Premier League fixture against Manchester City. For England, the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium provide a chance for fringe players to impress Southgate ahead of Euro 2024.
