Real Sociedad are unlikely to sign Kieran Tierney on a permanent basis following his loan spell, according to a report.
Charles Watts reports in his Daily Briefing that those close to Real Sociedad have suggested it’s unlikely they will look to keep Kieran Tierney on a permanent basis.
Sociedad “really like” Tierney, and they feel he has made an impact, but Watts believes the club would struggle to pay Arsenal what they want for the player.
The Gunners wanted to sell Tierney last summer, and they’ll again hope to do so this summer, but it doesn’t look like the Spanish side will be among the potential buyers.
That’s a problem, because it’s not clear exactly who will pay Arsenal’s asking price for Tierney.
The club had previously fielded interest from Newcastle United, but Newcastle looked elsewhere when they decided Arsenal’s valuation was too steep.
Without Newcastle in the picture this time around, Arsenal really need another Premier League club to take an interest.
If even one of Spain’s Champions League clubs can’t afford Tierney, it’s unlikely there are many interested clubs in Europe who could.
Tierney has made 20 appearances for Real Sociedad this season, shaking off a couple of injury problems to return to action late last month and provide an assist over the weekend.
