Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is on loan with League Two side Wrexham this season, and he’s generally having a positive campaign.

Wrexham are fighting for promotion, sitting third in the league but just three points off the top, and Okonkwo is a nailed-on starter for the side on a weekly basis.

There have been some setbacks along the way, most notably when the goalkeeper had to undergo minor surgery on his jaw, and also a disappointing individual display as Wrexham crashed out of the FA Cup to Blackburn Rovers.

But those disappointments have been overshadowed by consistently strong displays throughout the rest of the campaign.

Starting against Accrington Stanley on Saturday, Okonkwo helped his team to another clean sheet, his 10th of the League Two season.

The 22-year-old made three saves and two high claims to keep the opposition out, as well as winning the only aerial duel he contested.

Okonkwo has now kept 12 clean sheets in 29 games in all competitions for Wrexham, and he’s on the hunt for the EFL Golden Glove award.

The Wrexham shot-stopper’s 10 clean sheets puts him three clean sheets off league leader Christy Pym of Mansfield Town, despite the fact he’s played nine games fewer than Pym.

With another 11 games of the regular season still to play, Okonkwo will be looking to help his team to promotion whilst picking up the Golden Glove for his own trophy cabinet.
