Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri has taken a significant step in his young career by signing his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder, who burst onto the scene with a record-breaking Premier League debut in September 2022, has impressed at every level with his talent and work ethic.

Highly-rated youngster Ethan Nwaneri has officially committed his future to Arsenal by signing his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal‘s academy in May 2015 and has risen through the ranks, impressing at every age group. Nwaneri’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed, with the midfielder already featuring for the first team.

Nwaneri etched his name in Premier League history books in September 2022 when, at just 15 years and 181 days old, he became the youngest player ever to appear in a top-flight match for the club, and the league itself. He further cemented his place in Arsenal lore with another substitute appearance in the 6-0 victory over West Ham United in February 2024.

He has been a prolific goalscorer for the Arsenal academy this season, netting an impressive 14 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Academy Manager Per Mertesacker expressed his pride in Nwaneri’s journey and his confidence in the young midfielder’s future. As per Premier League regulations, the initial contract is likely to be between two and three years, expiring in 2026. However, once Nwaneri turns 18 next year, Arsenal hopes to secure him on a longer-term contract, potentially lasting until 2030.
