Arsenal loanees Zane Monlouis and Khayon Edwards have been called up by the Jamaica u23s for a training camp this month.
Arsenal’s Zane Monlouis and Khayon Edwards are both eligible for the England youth teams, with Monlouis previously having represented England at u17 level.
But Arsenal report that both youngsters have been called up by the Jamaica u23s this month for a training camp, suggesting they could decide to represent Jamaica instead.
Neither will be committed to Jamaica, especially given it’s just a training camp at this stage. Though it certainly signals their intentions as they stand.
The two are following the footsteps of former Arsenal academy winger Omari Hutchinson, now of Chelsea, who represented England in the younger age groups before making the switch to Jamaica.
Hutchinson has made his first-team debut for Jamaica, appearing in a couple of friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago, though the fact he’s only made those two appearances in non-competitive matches means he could still switch back to England in the future.
For anyone wondering, the Jamaica u23s didn’t qualify for the Olympics this summer in Paris, so representing the team won’t give Monlouis and Edwards the chance to play at the tournament.
Monlouis and Edwards are both on loan in League One at the moment, with Monlouis joining Reading and Edwards playing for Leyton Orient.
