Arsenal will have been prepared for a deep block and a grind to break Sheffield United down on Monday night, but three goals in the first 15 minutes ensured they had nothing to worry about.

Bukayo Saka had already hit the bar when Martin Odegaard fired Arsenal into the lead, and it was the England winger who forced the second goal as Jayden Bogle couldn’t help turning into his own net from Saka’s cross.

But with less than 15 minutes on the clock, Arsenal were already going for style points.

Jakub Kiwior picked the ball up on the left-hand side of the penalty area, and Arsenal fans spotted his no-look pass back to Gabriel Martinelli, whose shot deflected in for 3-0.

The game didn’t get any easier for Sheffield United, with Kai Havertz firing in a fourth and Declan Rice sweeping a fifth into the net before half-time.

The only respite came as a result of the early substitutions that Arsenal’s dominant position allowed for, but they still went on to add a sixth from Ben White in the second half.

As so often this season, Arsenal shared around the goals and assists in their 6-0 win, and they’ll hope their multi-threat attack can cause just as many problems for Brentford on Saturday and Porto next Tuesday.
