Kai Havertz put in an excellent performance for Germany against France on Saturday, whilst keeping his goalscoring form going.

Kai Havertz has been in excellent form for Arsenal lately, scoring four goals and assisting two in his last six matches.

The German has helped his team up to the top of the Premier League and into the Champions League quarter-finals, but he’s currently away with his country for the international break.

With Germany hosting the European Championships this summer, they qualified for the tournament automatically, and they haven’t had a competitive game to play for a while.

Instead, the team have to test themselves in friendlies, and they had the chance to do so against World Cup finalists France on Saturday.

Didier Deschamps opted not to play William Saliba against his Arsenal teammate, and he may have regretted that decision as Havertz put in a superb centre-forward display.

The Arsenal man completed 85% of his passes, creating one chance and putting his teammates in some great positions in and around the box. He then capped off his performance with goal in the second half.

With Havertz dragging the French centre-backs up the pitch, Jamal Musiala ran in behind, rounding the goalkeeper and squaring for Havertz to finish for 2-0.

Germany profited from Havertz’s performance to put on a dominant display throughout the 90 minutes, and the 24-year-old certainly seemed pleased afterwards.

“Today was a lot of fun,” Havertz said. “I think we controlled the game well, especially in the second half. We had one or two good chances to score more goals, but we are of course happy to win against such an opponent.

“Scoring here was good for me. And I’m just happy to be able to play football with the boys. We have so much quality. When I see the players playing behind me, it’s just outstanding.”

Havertz has two goals in his last three games for Germany, and it certainly looks as though he’ll be in their starting lineup at the Euros this summer.
