MLS side LAFC are set to sign former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer, according to reports.
Tom Bogert of The Athletic broke the news on Wednesday that LAFC were finalising a deal to sign Olivier Giroud when his contract with AC Milan expires this summer.
Bogert reports that Giroud would link up with his new side after Euro 2024, with the MLS summer transfer window opening on July 18th, four days after the Euros final.
The deal will last until the end of 2025, with the MLS operating on a calendar-year basis.
Fabrizio Romano reports on Twitter and his Daily Briefing that LAFC have reached a verbal agreement to sign Giroud. Whilst nothing is signed yet, the deal is close to done.
After making an initial bid for Giroud earlier this week, an initial agreement is now in place.
Hugo Lloris had his part to play in the move, calling Giroud to try and persuade him to join, allowing the pair to become teammates again in the MLS.
Giroud has spent almost three years with AC Milan, scoring 46 goals in 121 games for the side and winning Serie A once in 2021/22. Before that, he scored 39 in 119 appearances for Chelsea.
But Giroud made the most appearances for Arsenal, scoring 105 goals in 253 games, winning three FA Cup trophies and three Community Shields.
The striker is also a World Cup winner with France, as well as finishing as a runner-up in the 2022 World Cup and the 2016 Euros.
