Following Arsenal’s win over FC Porto on Tuesday, the Gunners will progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming draw for the next rounds of the competition.

UEFA have confirmed that the draw for the quarter-final, semi-final, and final will take place on Friday, March 15th at 11:00 GMT.

The semi-final draw taking place at the same time as the quarter-final draw means we’ll know Arsenal’s two potential opponents in the semi-final, as well as the four teams they can’t face until the final.

The draw for the final is simply for administrative reasons, to determine which side will technically be the “home” side in the final.

The quarter-final matches will take place on April 9th-10th and April 16th-17th. If Arsenal make it to the semi-final, that will be played on April 30th-May 1st and May 7th-8th. The final is on June 1st at Wembley Stadium.

As it stands, six teams have qualified for the quarter-finals, with two more last-16 second-leg matches still to be played on Wednesday night, meaning the following clubs will be involved:

  1. Arsenal
  2. Bayern Munich
  3. FC Barcelona
  4. Manchester City
  5. Paris Saint-Germain
  6. Real Madrid
  7. Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid (Inter lead the tie 1-0)
  8. PSV or Borussia Dortmund (the tie is level at 1-1)

Arsenal can face any of the above opponents, including English club Manchester City, and former group rivals PSV Eindhoven. There is no protection or seeding at this stage of the draw.

Eight balls will be placed into a bowl and drawn out, with the first team drawn in each pairing playing the first leg at home.

The semi-final draw will then take place, with four balls drawn marked “winners of quarter-final 1” to “winners of quarter-final 4”.

Again, the first ball drawn in each of the semi-final pairings will get their first leg at home.

How can I watch the draw?
