Arsenal loanee Mika Biereth was in the starting lineup for Sturm Graz away to Lille on Thursday night, and he played 45 minutes of their 1-1 draw in the Europa Conference League tie.

Despite only playing the first half, Biereth did net a goal, redirecting a shot with his head to bag the equaliser on the night.

But with Sturm 4-1 down on aggregate at the break, the manager opted to save his star striker for the weekend.

That turned out to be a good decision, as Biereth starred in the early stages of Sturm’s league game against Austria Klagenfurt.

Just four minutes into the game, Biereth opened the scoring after pouncing on a rebound for 1-0.

14 minutes later, Biereth doubled the lead with a close-range header at the far post for 2-0.

It was his third goal in a few days, and his eighth in 11 games for Sturm Graz.

Across the entire season, including his time spent with Motherwell FC, Biereth now has 20 goal contributions in 26 games. He’s scored eight goals for Sturm and assisted one, after scoring six goals for Motherwell and assisting five.
