Brentford have confirmed that centre-back Ben Mee is set to miss the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign through injury, after a scan on an ankle problem in midweek.

Mee came off at half-time of Brentford’s defeat to West Ham United earlier this week, and he’ll be unavailable when Thomas Frank’s side travel to Arsenal next weekend.

Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, Ethan Pinnock, and Bryan Mbeumo are also out of action through injury at the moment, and none of them are expected to return before the Arsenal clash.

Ahead of Brentford’s match against Chelsea, Frank told a press conference that he feels he has “seven starters out” at the moment.

Brentford are fighting for their lives and in poor form at the moment, losing four of their five matches in February, so the injury to Mee is just a further blow to their hopes of Premier League survival.

With Arsenal’s own injury list starting to clear up, they can have no excuses when Brentford visit the Emirates Stadium next weekend.

The Gunners will play their Champions League last-16 second leg just days after the Brentford clash, so Mikel Arteta will take any little advantage he can get.
