Athletic Club have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Alvaro Djalo, seemingly paving the way for Arsenal target Nico Williams to leave the club this summer.

Pedro Sepulveda reports that Athletic Club and Braga have agreed a deal for the transfer for Alvaro Djalo, with Athletic to pay €15m plus a potential €5m in bonuses for the winger.

The Braga left-winger will sign a deal with Athletic Club to 2029, and it certainly looks as though the Spanish side are preparing for Nico Williams’ departure this summer.

Like Djalo, Williams plays on the left wing, and he’s been in excellent form this season.

The 21-year-old has scored six goals and provided 11 assists in 27 appearances for Athletic Club, most recently providing a goal and an assist against Atletico Madrid to help his team into the Copa del Rey final.

Athletic Club will face Mallorca in the final, so they have a very real shot at a trophy this season. After that, Williams could be on the way out.

With Williams’ strong form, it’s no surprise that a number of top clubs have been linked with his signature. John Cross of the Mirror recently reported that Arsenal scouts have been watching the winger, and he appears to be on their summer shortlist.

For what it’s worth, Cross reported at the time that Williams’ current club don’t want to sell.

The player’s contract contains a release clause, but his club have declined to reveal it publicly. If Arsenal are willing to activate it, it would be entirely up to Williams himself whether to make the move.
