Arsenal’s hopes of strengthening their attack with Real Madrid’s young winger Rodrygo this summer appear to be dashed. Despite initial interest, financial constraints have emerged as a major obstacle to the deal.

Arsenal‘s plans for the summer transfer window have suffered a setback as their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo appears unlikely to materialise.

According to reports from Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, the Gunners identified Rodrygo as a potential target to strengthen their attacking options. The 23-year-old Brazilian has impressed at Real Madrid since his arrival in 2019, contributing with 50 goals and 40 assists. However, the financial demands of the deal could prove insurmountable for Arsenal.

Estimates suggest a transfer fee in excess of £85 million would be required to secure Rodrygo’s services, coupled with a significant weekly wage exceeding £200,000. Additionally, convincing the player to leave Real Madrid, with whom he is contracted until 2028, presents another hurdle.

While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta seeks to add depth and quality to his wing options, currently occupied by Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard, the potential acquisition of Rodrygo, with his versatility and attacking prowess, would have significantly upgraded their attacking threat.

Despite their interest, Arsenal‘s pursuit of Rodrygo appears to be at a dead end due to financial constraints. The Gunners will likely have to explore alternative targets to reinforce their attack for the new season.
