Arsenal fans have plenty to ponder as transfer rumours swirl around both potential arrivals and departures.

Donyell Malen’s recent comments hint at a desire to return to the Emirates. Meanwhile, Albert Sambi Lokonga could exit the club.

Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring young Albanian goalkeeper Diant Ramaj.

Former Gunner Donyell Malen has set Arsenal hearts aflutter. In a recent interview, he expressed his fondness for the club and a desire to return someday.

While a move isn’t imminent, or rumoured at this point, his comments will rekindle memories of his early promise at the Emirates.

“I think because I played in England as a youth and then it is a dream to play in the Premier League, then I think that is a beautiful dream,” Malen said.

“I went to Arsenal so yes, them. I want Arsenal, my favourite club. Yes [about returning there]. I played there in my youth, I really wanted to break through there so yes.

“Every now and then in a football career there are points at which you just have to make a decision. Yes, I was training with the first team, and I was 17, 18 at the time and I did make steps in the optics, but I thought yes, I have to just play professional football.

“I also saw my teammates playing professional football while I was still playing youth football and I just knew [leaving] was the right thing to do.”

Lokonga’s uncertain future

Midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga could be heading for the exit door this summer with reports suggesting Arsenal are willing to listen to offers, which makes sense.

A poor attitude at the club when not getting minutes has seen him sent on loans to Crystal Palace and Luton Town, becoming expendable at The Emirates after a promising start to his time in London. A sale would open a spot and generate funds for new signings.

Still only 24, Lokonga is valued at €12m, some way short of the €17.5m Arsenal paid RSC Anderlecht for him in 2021.

Lokonga’s Arsenal contract expires in 2024.

Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on young Albanian goalkeeper Diant Ramaj.

Ramaj’s impressive performances for Eintracht Frankfurt have caught the eye of several European clubs.

His age and potential fit Arsenal‘s strategy of investing in promising young talent and he is being eyed as an Aaron Ramsdale replacement.
