Arsenal are eyeing Patrick Schulte as a potential replacement for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to a report.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal are eyeing Patrick Schulte as a potential summer signing, if Aaron Ramsdale leaves the club.
The report states that Ramsdale may move for regular football this summer, and Arsenal have started looking at potential replacements.
Schulte of MLS side Columbus Crew has reportedly been on Arsenal’s radar for a while, and that interest will only have strengthened since his international debut against Slovenia in January.
At club level, Schulte has made 43 appearances for the Columbus Crew, keeping 11 clean sheets. He’s conceded three goals in five games so far this year.
Arsenal have had relative success recruiting from the MLS in the past, making quick profits on Auston Trusty and Matt Turner. Turner’s situation is particularly comparable, given he’s also a goalkeeper with international experience.
But Schulte would need to prove he could be a worthy alternative to David Raya when the Spaniard is unavailable, not just a player capable of making Arsenal a little money when sold.
Raya is technically only on loan from Brentford, but Arsenal have already reportedly decided to activate his purchase option this summer.
