Kieran Tierney has admitted he doesn’t know if he has a future at Arsenal, even though he still has a couple of years on his contract in north London.
Real Sociedad play one of their biggest games of the season so far against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, their reward for having won their Champions League group ahead of Inter Milan, Benfica, and RB Salzburg.
Arsenal loanee Kieran Tierney won’t be involved in the clash, missing out on the squad due to injury.
But the left-back has been speaking to the media this week about his time in Spain so far, and his potential future back in England.
“It’s hard to say (if the future leads back to Arsenal),” Tierney said.
“I loved my time there and I still have two years on the contract.
“I am very grateful to Arsenal. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I am absolutely loving it here. I feel I have adapted quite well and I hope I can return the faith the club have shown.”
Real Sociedad confirmed in late January that Tierney had picked up an injury to his left thigh, though they didn’t confirm a timeline for his absence.
Tierney pulled up 39 minutes into Real Sociedad’s game away to Celta de Vigo, and head coach Imanol Alguacil later broke the news that it appeared to be a muscle injury.
Local reports at the time suggested that the club feared Tierney could be set for an absence comparable with the two months he spent out of action with his last hamstring injury, earlier in the season. He’s been out for almost a month already.
Tierney has made 16 appearances for Real Sociedad on loan despite his two injuries, and he’ll hope to make a few more when he’s back fit again.
