Arsenal are hoping to welcome two more injured players back into the fold against Sheffield United next Monday, according to a report.
The Evening Standard report that Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey are both “planning to step up” their workloads this week in the hope that they can make the squad to face Sheffield United next Monday.
Both players are reportedly eager to make their comebacks, after just narrowly missing out on the squad to face Newcastle United last Saturday.
Arsenal haven’t made any decisions just yet, and they’ll wait until later this week to do so.
With no game in midweek, there’s no rush to get the two players back involved immediately.
Arsenal’s injury list is steadily shrinking at the moment, with Zinchenko and Partey two of just four players still on it after Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira made their comebacks last week.
The other two absentees are Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu, both of whom should be back in the next month or two on current estimates.
No one is expected to miss the remainder of the season, though with Tomiyasu’s record of setbacks and the complications that often come with an ACL injury like Timber’s, you wouldn’t bet against further delays to their returns.
Arsenal will need their squad to be at full strength if they hope to compete for the Premier League and the Champions League, the last two trophies on offer to Mikel Arteta’s side.
