For the most part, Arsenal had an excellent Sunday afternoon against Liverpool, with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard helping the team to a 3-1 victory over the league leaders.

But there were also a few injury concerns, with Gabriel Jesus missing the match completely, Oleksandr Zinchenko coming off at half-time, and Saka also withdrawing with an injury in the second half.

On top of that, Mikel Arteta revealed that Jorginho has been carrying an injury recently.

“He’s been in a lot of pain as well, because he has an issue that he’s been carrying for months,” Arteta admitted. “He didn’t want to stop, he’s been playing with that.”

Fortunately, Jorginho was able to play through his injury to produce a Player of the Match display, but Arteta also had updates on the three injured players who couldn’t complete the match.

The good news is that neither Jesus nor Saka’s injuries appear to be serious.

Arteta claimed that “with Gabby [Jesus], we expect it to be something about days”.

The Arsenal manager then said of Saka: “He should be fine, I think. He got a kick, I think, on the ankle or the back of his foot, but he should be fine.”

Saka certainly appeared to be okay as he ran over to join the celebrations for Arsenal’s third goal, following his substitution.

As for Zinchenko, the news was a bit more worrying.

“With Alex, we don’t know because he had some feeling in his calf again and we had to take him off,” Arteta explained.

Arsenal now have a week to recover before the next game against West Ham United on Sunday, which will hopefully be enough to at least get Saka back involved, and ideally Jesus as well.

As for Zinchenko, we’ll have to wait and see how the situation develops.
