Saturday was a quiet one for Arsenal’s deadline-day loanees, with only Charles Sagoe Jr. making his debut for his new side.

Arsenal sent four youth players out on loan on deadline day earlier this week, and three of their new teams had matches on Saturday afternoon.

Omar Rekik was the one exception, with Servette FC set to play their next Swiss Super League match on Sunday at 15:30 GMT.

But despite the other three having matches to be play in, it seems they’re all still being eased in at this early stage.

Zane Monlouis wasn’t involved in Reading’s 1-1 draw away to Oxford United, whilst Khayon Edwards made the bench but didn’t come on as Leyton Orient defeated Carlisle United 3-2.

The one deadline-day loanee to make an immediate appearance on Saturday was Charles Sagoe Jr. of Swansea City.

Sagoe Jr. initially started the game on the bench, along with fellow loanee Charlie Patino, but both of them came on as substitutes with 13 minutes to go.

In fact, there were plenty of Arsenal academy players introduced from the bench in the match, with Plymouth Argyle bringing on Lino Sousa and Julio Pleguezuelo.

It wasn’t a winning debut for Sagoe Jr., with Swansea already 1-0 down before his introduction and unable to turn it around at the end despite a late chance for Patino.

But it was a solid first display for the Gunners’ loan debutant, completing seven of nine attempted passes, including one long ball, completing his only attempted cross, and winning two of his three individual duels.

The forward has shown he’s up for the battle in the Championship, and he’ll hopefully start to get more chances in the team in the coming weeks.
