Liverpool won the League Cup on Sunday, but their injury list continues to grow as they juggle three more competitions at once.

Liverpool overcame Chelsea to win the 2023/24 League Cup at the weekend, but they suffered a couple of injury setbacks in the process.

Jurgen Klopp claims that Ryan Gravenberch has an ankle ligament injury, after being forced off in the first half of the cup final.

The BBC report that Wataru Endo was seen leaving Wembley with his foot in a protective boot and on crutches, so things don’t look particularly good for him either.

Those two join the likes of Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic in being out for the foreseeable future.

Curtis Jones is a little closer to a comeback, with Klopp suggesting the midfielder could be back before the international break.

Fellow injury absentees Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez were all subject to last-minute decisions for the cup final, so they should be back soon too.

Amid their current injury crisis, Liverpool have to keep playing matches, with the FA Cup, the Europa League, and the Premier League to think about.

Liverpool play Southampton in the FA Cup on Wednesday, with Europa League matches against Sparta Prague in the following two midweeks.

At the weekends, Liverpool play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this Saturday, Manchester City next Sunday, and Everton away the Sunday after that (although that match could be postponed if Liverpool make the FA Cup quarter-final).

It would be a herculean effort if Klopp’s side manage to avoid slipping up in any of the above fixtures, given how thin their squad is becoming.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will look to take advantage of any dropped points from the league leaders.
