Arsenal won 3-1 against Liverpool at the weekend with an inspired performance from Mikel Arteta’s side, but one which was undoubtedly aided by a crowd ready to shout for every decision and cheer on every good piece of play.

The Emirates Stadium attendees knew that this was Arsenal’s big chance to stay in touch at the top of the table, and they made sure to make as much noise as possible throughout the 90 minutes.

Kai Havertz was thrust into a start at centre-forward for the match after Gabriel Jesus’ injury, and he spoke about the fan impact after the game.

“The small details made the difference today,” Havertz said.

“Definitely our mentality and obviously the supporters helping us. We needed them today; they showed big belief and made us run. We are very happy about the three points.

“There’s no secret to the win – two top teams on the pitch. The small details are very important, we scored two good goals, maybe they were a bit lucky, but their goal was lucky as well. We are very happy.

“It was a big night for us, the supporters were brilliant. We are very thankful for them.”

Arsenal still have some big games left to come at the Emirates Stadium before the end of the season, notably in the Champions League.

The Gunners take on FC Porto on March 12th in their last-16 second leg clash, before playing Chelsea at the same venue later that week on March 16th. If Arsenal can progress further in the Champions League, there will be more to come.

The next home game this month is also a big one, with Arteta’s team looking to get revenge on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

The fans need to be behind the team for those games just as they were against Liverpool, as it clearly has an impact on the players.
