Ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium, Liverpool faces a potential setback with Darwin Nunez‘s fitness under scrutiny. The No.9 forward, a key figure in Liverpool’s attack, picked up a foot injury during the team’s impressive 4-1 win against Chelsea at Anfield, casting uncertainty over his participation against Arsenal.

Liverpool’s manager, Jürgen Klopp, spoke about Nunez’s condition in his Friday morning pre-match press conference. Klopp detailed the incident that led to Nunez’s injury, explaining, “I don’t know if Darwin is available or not because after 20 minutes somebody stepped on his foot and it was very painful after the game. He only took his boot off after the game because he didn’t want to see it before, knowing something.”

The situation seems precarious as Nunez was seen leaving the stadium not in his football boots but in a protective boot, indicating the severity of the discomfort. Klopp added, “So, nothing broke, X-ray clear, but [it is] swollen and we have to see if he can get his foot back into a boot or not because we all know that takes time. I did not see him this morning so we have to wait a little bit.”
