Arsenal are confident of reaching an agreement on a new deal for Amario Cozier-Duberry, despite his deal running down amid widespread interest in a transfer.
CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs reports (via GiveMeSport) that negotiations are ongoing for Amario Cozier-Duberry’s contract renewal, and the Gunners are optimistic of coming to an agreement.
The deal isn’t done yet, but talks haven’t collapsed, and Arsenal are still actively working on reaching an agreement.
“Negotiations are ongoing and Arsenal are optimistic,” Jacobs said.
“There’s absolutely no doubt that they want to renew and these kinds of conversations when the talent is so wide-tracked can be quite difficult, because you can understand why the player may want a little bit more and has some leverage as well.
“But Arsenal’s intent is to get this over the line. At the moment, there’s no suggestion that talks have collapsed, which means that Arsenal are still in control of the situation.”
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that many clubs are interested in Arsenal’s Amario Cozier-Duberry, specifically naming Wolves and Anderlecht among the potential buyers.
Romano claimed the race is open and nothing is decided yet, with Arsenal pushing for the player to sign a new contract.
Simon Collings of the Evening Standard had already mentioned the interest from Anderlecht, in addition to AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, and Newcastle United.
Arsenal insider Team News and Ticks added Brighton’s name into the mix.
Cozier-Duberry is in the last six months of his Arsenal deal, alerting various teams to the prospect of a free transfer in the summer.
The youngster has seven goals and three assists for the Arsenal u21s and u19s in 14 matches in the Premier League 2, the UEFA Youth League, and the EFL Trophy this season.
That form has earned him a couple of first-team call-ups, in the Champions League against Sevilla and in the League Cup against Brentford, but he’s yet to make his senior debut.
