Arsenal assistant Carlos Cuesta is in Norwich City’s sights for their manager job next season, according to a report.
Ed Aarons reports for The Guardian that Arsenal are expecting interest in Mikel Arteta’s assistant Carlos Cuesta from Norwich City and other Championship teams at the end of the season.
Cuesta is reportedly rated as one of the world’s best young coaches, and he could be tempted by the chance to take his first managerial role.
The Norwich City link is further bolstered by the fact their sporting director, Ben Knapper, was previously the loans manager at Arsenal.
Norwich City’s current boss David Wagner is having a mixed season with the club, but The Guardian report that Cuesta is only likely to consider a move at the end of the season.
Even then, Arsenal are reportedly determined to resist any summer approaches for Cuesta.
Cuesta isn’t Arteta’s only assistant, with the Arsenal manager working alongside a team of staff in the dugout.
Albert Stuivenberg and Miguel Molina both act as assistants to Arteta as well, with Nicolas Jover working on set-pieces, and Inaki Cana and Terry Mason as goalkeeping coaches.
Even so, Cuesta is highly rated, and at a young age (28) he’s already worked for Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and now Arsenal.
Arteta’s assistant appears to have a big future in football, whether Norwich City are successful with their mooted summer approach or not.
