As the race for Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football qualification heats up, six teams have already secured their spots with the top teams from each continental football federation, plus the host nation, set to compete this summer.

With crucial matches approaching, the international break is set to reveal more contenders. Additionally, the involvement of up to 10 Arsenal players could significantly influence the club’s pre-season preparations. Depending on how far the players progress in the Olympics, they may miss crucial pre-season friendlies.

Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football qualifiers and Arsenal’s pre-season

Six teams out of 12 have now qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football tournament and we will know four of the last six remaining teams by the end of the current international break.

Qualified teams:

To be completed in this window:

UEFA 2: Nations League final France v Germany and Spain v Netherlands.

The finalists are through, although if France makes the final, the third-placed team qualify for the tournament.

AFC 2: Home and away matches to decide the two teams who qualify DPR Korea v Japan and Uzbekistan v Australia

To be completed in the April window:

CAF 2: Third round to be played 19-28 February and fourth round 1-9 April Fourth round draw: Ghana or Zambia v Tunisia or Morocco Cameroon or Nigeria v Tanzania or South Africa

Up to 10 Arsenal players will be possibly involved in the tournament that will take place from the 25th July to the 10th August.

It is good news, as it means the team’s pre-season will not be severely disrupted like last summer.

That led to an early Champions League elimination due to the lack of proper preparation.

Should Arsenal finish again in third place in the FA WSL, the Gunners will be prepared for the Champions League Qualifying Round 1.
