Arsenal have received nominations for the Premier League’s Player of the Month and Manager of the Month awards for February.
The Premier League have confirmed their nominees for the February Player of the Month and Manager of the Month awards, with Arsenal receiving nominations in both categories.
Mikel Arteta is up for Manager of the Month alongside Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Erik ten Hag of Manchester United, and the Arsenal boss should be the clear favourite to win the award.
Arsenal were the only team of the three to win all of their games in February, and the Gunners mustered a February goal difference of +16 as opposed to Manchester City’s +6 or Manchester United’s +4.
Arteta’s side defeated league leaders Liverpool, and got revenge on two teams that had beaten them earlier in the season in West Ham United and Newcastle United, as well as thrashing Burnley away from home.
Given Arsenal’s strong form, it was no surprise to see a nominee in the Player of the Month category as well, with Bukayo Saka selected.
Saka scored six times in four games to make himself the Premier League’s top scorer in February, despite coming off early in all four games.
The winger didn’t spend more than 80 minutes on the pitch in any of the four matches, with Arsenal’s emphatic performances and Saka’s goals allowing him to come off and get some rest before the 90 minutes were up.
It would be a genuine surprise if Arsenal don’t win both awards on this occasion, given Saka and Arteta were clearly influential in what was easily the best team in the league in February.
