Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that Fabian Schar is available to face Arsenal, with two more injured players potentially also ready for a comeback.
Newcastle United could be set to welcome three injured players back into their squad against Arsenal this weekend, with Eddie Howe sharing good news for their supporters on Friday.
Arsenal are set to face Newcastle in the Saturday night kick-off, and the Gunners have had some good news on the injury front as well.
But Newcastle will be boosted by the confirmation that Fabian Schar has overcome an injury scare from their last match to be fit this weekend, and the defender might be joined in the squad by Alexander Isak and former Gunner Joe Willock.
Howe gave an update on Isak and Willock in his pre-match press conference.
“They’ve trained this week,” Howe said. “It’s been good to see them back on the grass.
“Been a long time for Joe [Willock], but he’s a huge player for us. It’s been great to see him back in amongst the group. Very popular member of the squad. Really pleased for him this week.
“With Alex, again, really important player. He’s trained very well so yeah, we’re happy with both players.
“We’ll have to wait and see (whether they’ll be involved against Arsenal), we’ve got one more training session, but been pleased with their progress as I say.”
Callum Wilson is set to miss the Arsenal match after his chest surgery, with the striker ruled out for much of the rest of the season.
Joelinton has also been ruled out of this weekend’s game following thigh surgery.
Sandro Tonali remains absent through his gambling suspension, whilst Nick Pope has a shoulder injury and is also still out.
Matt Targett and Elliot Anderson complete Newcastle’s list of absentees.
