Arsenal faces a hurdle in their Champions League campaign as they enter the knockout stages.

While initial reports suggested Gabriel Jesus would be fit for their clash with Porto, it now appears he’s been left behind in London and won’t be joining the squad.

On Tuesday morning, the Portuguese paper Record claimed Jesus’ “near recovery” and stated that he would be in the Arsenal travelling party, but this was apparently nonsense. His absence, highlighted by him missing Tuesday’s training and, well, being left at home in London, is set to continue.

Despite Jesus’ instrumental role in the group stages, Arsenal must now adjust their approach. Without his goalscoring prowess, the focus will shift to others in the squad, as it has in recent weeks.

Jesus has been out with a knee injury since the end of January and it is not clear when he will return.
