Sergi Roberto, the 31-year-old Spanish stalwart, has worn the Blaugrana armband since the start of the season, but his current contract expires at the end of the season. Despite manager Xavi‘s strong recommendation to keep him, Barcelona have opted not to renew the deal, opening the door for a potential North London switch.

Reports in Spain indicate Arsenal‘s keen interest in the experienced midfielder. His ability to seamlessly switch between right-back and central midfield positions would offer Mikel Arteta valuable tactical flexibility. Roberto’s leadership qualities and Champions League experience could also prove invaluable additions to the young Gunners squad.

While Barcelona are hunting for a new manager, Arsenal can focus on potentially landing a bargain. Roberto’s versatility, experience, and leadership make him a tempting proposition for any club, and the Gunners are certainly keeping a close eye on the situation, having reportedly made an enquiry for the player recently.

However, competition for Roberto’s signature is likely to be fierce. Clubs across Europe will be circling, eager to snap up a free transfer of such calibre. Arsenal will need to act fast and decisively if they want to bring the Spaniard, who is said to favour a move to the Premier League and has a liking for London, to the Emirates
