Arsenal’s February opponents West Ham United are facing a crisis in their front line, with various players injured or unavailable.
West Ham United got some bad news this week, with Lucas Paqueta seemingly ruled out for a couple of months with a calf injury.
Paqueta picked up the injury on the day of West Ham’s last game against Arsenal, and the timeline of his absence makes it likely he’ll now miss the next one on February 11th.
Michail Antonio is also likely to miss the Arsenal clash, with injury estimates putting his absence at around five or six weeks.
Jarrod Bowen is currently out with an ankle problem, but there was better news on that front, and he should be available to face Arsenal in February.
Away from injuries, West Ham could also be without Mohammed Kudus for the Arsenal match.
Kudus has been called up by Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off this weekend.
If Ghana make it to the semi-final, they’ll still be playing at the tournament until February 10th at the earliest, due to the third-place play-off. Arsenal’s match against West Ham is just a day later.
If Ghana make the final, the two games will take place on the same day.
Arsenal have already faced West Ham twice this season, ending up on the losing side on both occasions.
With the various expected absences for the Hammers for February’s fixture, Mikel Arteta’s side can have no excuses for a third defeat.
