Kostas Tsimikas is already back in training, highlighting the overreaction from Liverpool fans to Bukayo Saka’s supposed push.

Kostas Tsimikas picked up an injury in Liverpool’s recent match against Arsenal at Anfield, as he collided with manager Jurgen Klopp following a challenge from Bukayo Saka.

Replays of the incident showed Saka’s boot had slipped out from under him as he made contact, with the pitch causing problems throughout the match.

The slip added a little more force to the tackle than intended. But in all honesty, the actual clash between Tsimikas and Saka was barely sufficient for a foul to be called.

Yet football fans often judge these incidents solely on the outcome, and in this case the outcome was a claim that Tsimikas had broken his collarbone and faced a long-term absence.

Liverpool fans attacked Saka on social media for days afterwards, only for it to turn out that Tsimikas wasn’t even as badly injured as first thought.

Tsimikas confirmed in a post on Instagram on Friday that he’s already back in individual training at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, writing “not long now”.

The left-back isn’t back in full sessions just yet, but the fact he’s already out running again suggests it won’t be long.

Tsimikas will miss Liverpool’s trip to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, but he may well be back in time for the Premier League clash between the same two sides at the start of February.
