The Asian Cup 2023 is reaching a crucial stage, and Japan, featuring Arsenal‘s Takehiro Tomiyasu, is right in the thick of it.

After their first two games, Japan’s path to the knockout stage is still not confirmed. They’ve had a mixed bag of results, winning against Vietnam but losing to Iraq.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, who’s been out with an injury from Arsenal, played 45 minutes against Iraq. It’s clear his presence on the field makes a difference for Japan. When he played in the second half, Japan didn’t let in any more goals, but they were already trailing and couldn’t turn the game around, eventually losing 2-1.

Japan’s next game is a big one.

They play Indonesia on January 24th, and they need at least a draw to stay in the competition without relying on other results. If they end up third in their group, they’ll have to hope they’re one of the best third-placed teams to go through.

Tomiyasu’s role in this is key. He’s been easing back into action after his injury. He missed Japan’s first game and only played half of the second. But now, he’s back in full training and expected to be crucial for Japan in their final group match.

For Arsenal fans, seeing Tomiyasu back on the pitch and influencing games is good news. His fitness and form are vital for Arsenal, and his performances in the Asian Cup are a good sign.

Japan’s progress in the tournament is something to watch, especially with Tomiyasu’s involvement.
