Real Sociedad are concerned that Kieran Tierney could be out for more than two months with his latest injury, and an absence of at least a month is expected.
Noticias de Gipuzkoa reported on Thursday that we’d receive an official injury update on Kieran Tierney imminently, but the current expectation is that he’ll miss at least the month of February.
The Basque outlet claim that there’s concern about the injury at Real Sociedad, with the club preparing for the worst.
Tierney’s loan side fear that his absence could be close to the spell of more than two months he spent out of action with his last hamstring injury, earlier in the season.
Real Sociedad then released an official statement, confirming that Tierney had picked up an injury to his left thigh, though they didn’t confirm a timeline for his absence.
Tierney suffer the injury on Tuesday, after being forced off in the first half.
Just 39 minutes into Real Sociedad’s game away to Celta de Vigo, Tierney pulled up and was substituted.
After the game, head coach Imanol Alguacil broke the news that it appeared to be a hamstring rupture.
“We are going to wait for the relevant tests to be done, but it is clear that it is a hamstring rupture,” Alguacil said.
“A shame, because with Aihen [Munoz] out, even if (new signing) Javi Galán comes, it is important to double up in positions with the games we are going to have to play.”
It’s another setback for Tierney and Real Sociedad, who are currently fighting for European qualification, as well as making the Copa del Rey semi-finals and the Champions League last-16.
Tierney now looks set to miss the upcoming tie against Paris Saint-Germain with his loan club.
