Arsenal Youth reported on Saturday that Gunners youngster Charles Sagoe Jr. was withdrawn from the Arsenal u21 squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers as he’s close to securing his first loan move.

The report didn’t name the club looking to sign the 19-year-old, but the expectation is that he’ll move on loan before Thursday’s deadline.

Following up on that report, the Sunderland Echo wrote that Sunderland are said to be interested in the winger.

The local outlet highlight that Sunderland have been without winger Patrick Roberts in recent weeks due to a calf injury, and there’s doubt around the futures of Alex Pritchard and Jewison Bennette.

Pritchard informed Sunderland he’d be withdrawing from their matchday squad last weekend, and expressed his desire to leave the squad – as confirmed by an official statement from the club.

Meanwhile, Bennette looks to be set to go on loan, potentially removing two more wing options from Sunderland’s squad.

It remains to be seen whether Sunderland are the club after Sagoe Jr., offering him the chance to link up with former Arsenal academy defender Daniel Ballard, but the move would appear to make a lot of sense.

Sagoe Jr. has scored three goals and assisted 10 in his 16 Arsenal youth appearances between the Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League, and the EFL Trophy this season.

The youngster also made his Arsenal first-team debut against Brentford in the League Cup back in September.
