Arsenal’s Noëlle Maritz has departed the club to join Aston Villa, the two teams have confirmed.
The Swiss right-back, who had lost her place to left-footed Katie McCabe, has now moved on.
She has spent three and a half seasons at the club coming from the Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg where she won the Champions League.
Below are her League statistics (via fbref):
Maritz made a total of 92 appearances and scored two goals. A classic right-back, she has been a steady player in the Arsenal defence.
A reliable player you could always depend on, Maritz did her defensive job first and brought experience to the team.
Her departure leaves a slot open in the Arsenal 25-player squad for the USWNT full-back Emily Fox, who should surely sign on soon (she is already in training with Arsenal).
sorry does that not look like emily fox or am i just delusional 🤨 pic.twitter.com/P6TLUCXWja

More players like Gio and Kühl could depart the club on loan during the January window, although letting the Danish midfielder go would potentially leave Arsenal short in central midfield, with only four players for two places.
