Arsenal’s Tyreece John-Jules joined Derby County on loan in the summer transfer window, but he only initially signed a short-term contract lasting until January.

The striker then spent quite a lot of the first half of the season out injured, leading to some doubts over whether Derby would look to extend his contract beyond the winter window.

But with John-Jules back fit and in the Derby team, club manager Paul Warne says he’s set to stay.

“I believe it is all signed and delivered,” Warne said of a new deal for John-Jules.

“He is staying until the end of the season, which is good because we are getting more game time out of him.

“We still have to be really cautious with him but he had moments tonight (Monday night) where you can see why we want him at the football club.

“He will be a big part going forward.”

John-Jules suffered an injury setback early on in his loan spell, ruling him out from September until late November.

The 22-year-old then made his comeback, scoring in a couple of substitute appearances at the end of November and start of December.

After a few more substitute showings, John-Jules made his first start on January 6th, and he made another against Burton Albion on Monday night.

If all goes well with the loan extension, the Arsenal man could have a major role to play in his team’s promotion push between now and May.
