Brentford loanee David Raya’s permanent move to Arsenal will be confirmed soon, according to a report.
Arsenal took David Raya on loan at the start of the season, with an option to make the move permanent for a fee of around £27m.
As it stands, the Gunners haven’t confirmed whether or not they’re activating that option, but Fabrizio Romano claims it’s already agreed and just a matter of making it official.
Romano was speaking to GiveMeSport, and he answered a question about when the move would be officially made permanent.
“It will be soon,” Romano said. “From what I’ve heard, it’s already agreed, so I don’t know when they will make it official.”
“It’s something that they already agreed in the summer,” Romano added.
“The Raya deal was going to be permanent at the beginning, but they had to change the structure of the deal because of Financial Fair Play.
“Brentford decided to help Arsenal with that, but it is not going to change anything. The deal will be made permanent.”
Raya has made himself a starter at Arsenal since joining, playing 20 times for the Gunners already.
The goalkeeper has kept eight clean sheets in that period, despite a few shaky moments in his early games for the club.
There are some who continue to question whether Aaron Ramsdale deserved to be dropped, and whether Raya is the replacement Arsenal need.
But Mikel Arteta is standing firm behind his starting-lineup decision, and it will be no surprise to see the loan made permanent.
