Mikel Arteta has set a definitive course for Arsenal as they embark on the crucial second half of their Premier League season.

“We wanted to start the second part of the season with a great performance, with a great result, and build that positivity and momentum again, and I think the boys did a good job today,” Arteta said after the 5-0 win.

The first of these objectives, re-launching the season with a ‘great performance’, was emphatically achieved in the game against Crystal Palace.

The team’s dominant win at Emirates Stadium was more than just a string of goals; this display underscored Arsenal’s ability, particularly in set-piece situations, where they have netted 13 goals this season, the most in the top division.

Achieving the 5-0 win, Arteta’s second goal of a ‘great result’, was realised in the same match.

The scoreline not only mirrored Arsenal’s offensive strength but also their defensive robustness in a win that lifted Arsenal to just two points behind the leaders Liverpool, paving the way for an intense title battle.

The third objective, to ‘build positivity and momentum’, is about more than accumulating points.

It involves cultivating a culture of winning within the squad.

This decisive result, combined with a methodical game plan, should hopefully rekindle the team’s enthusiasm and conviction as we head towards the business end of the season.
