Declan Rice has expressed admiration for Arsenal’s impressive Premier League performance, citing the youthful squad’s exceptional talent and potential.
Arsenal‘s impressive performances in the Premier League with one of the youngest squads in the division has been lauded by England midfielder Declan Rice as “really special”.
Rice, who made a significant £100m move from West Ham United to Arsenal in the summer, shared his insights on the club’s progress in a recent interview on Arsenal’s official website.
Reflecting on his first six months with Mikel Arteta’s team, Rice highlighted the evolution of Arsenal, both on and off the pitch, over the last five years.
He emphasised the club’s commitment to youth, investment, and a clear vision for the future, which has forged a renewed connection between the club and its supporters. “That’s happened because the club has stuck together, trusted the youth, invested and had a clear process in place for where they want to go,” Rice said.
This season, Arsenal boasts the third-youngest squad in the Premier League, following Burnley and Chelsea. Despite their youth, the Gunners have excelled, securing a spot in the Champions League knockout stage and holding a strong position in the Premier League.
Currently, they are level on points with Manchester City and trail leaders Liverpool by five points.
Rice attributes this success to the youthful energy within the squad. “Hunger. Excitement. The desire to win,” he said, explaining the advantages of having such a young team. He further added, “I think to be doing what we’re doing in the Premier League with a team this young is really, really special.”
The midfielder’s optimism extends beyond the current achievements, as he foresees even greater potential in the team. “There’s so much more to come from so many of us. We’re a group of really hungry players who want to succeed and will do anything to get there,” he added.
