Arsenal are still in the picture for Xavi Simons in 2024, and they’re waiting to find out Paris Saint-Germain’s summer stance on a transfer.

Sport BILD (via Sport Witness) report that Arsenal are one of the top clubs in the race for Xavi Simons this summer, depending on what PSG decide to do with him.

Simons is currently on loan with RB Leipzig, and Leipzig want to extend his deal for another year.

But PSG haven’t made a decision yet, and Arsenal join Barcelona and Inter Milan in showing an interest in the young player.

None of the interested clubs have made a move just yet, as they’re waiting to find out whether PSG will consider a sale, a loan, or opt to hang onto the 20-year-old.

PSG signed Simons using their €6m buy-back clause in the summer, bringing him back to the club after he proved a success with PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal had been linked with a cut-price move for Simons before that, but they reportedly never entered into official talks and he ended up with his old club instead.

Simons had even considered staying with PSV, but Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure affected that decision.

“Clearly a lot has changed now,” Simons said in June. “I haven’t met or spoken to the new manager yet. I will speak to him and sit with PSV, then decide my future.

“I’m aware of PSG clause to bring me back – but as far as I’m aware they also don’t have a manager yet.”

Simons has made 26 appearances for Leipzig in 2023/24, scoring six goals and assisting a further nine.

The youngster is also a Dutch international, featuring in every game for the Netherlands this season so far.
