This landmark deal establishes MG Motor as Arsenal’s ‘Official Automotive Partner’, a significant move for both the club and the British car manufacturer.

Marking its 100th anniversary, MG Motor UK brings a rich history and a forward-thinking mindset to the partnership. The deal also signifies a notable step in Arsenal‘s commercial strategy, given the rarity of car sector deals in the Premier League.

According to information released about the deal, MG Motor’s commitment to sustainable electric vehicles aligns seamlessly with Arsenal‘s ambitions and ethos, promising an innovative collaboration between the two entities.

Juliet Slot, Arsenal’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership: “We’re delighted to welcome MG to our family of partners. It’s a brand renowned for its history and heritage, but they also bring a forward-thinking mindset that aligns with our club’s ambitions. In their centenary year, we’re excited that MG can become part of our own long-term growth journey.”

MG Motor UK‘s recent achievements in the UK’s automotive market underscore the significance of this partnership. In 2023, the company sold over 80,000 new cars in the UK, establishing itself as a leading electric vehicle brand. The upcoming 2024/25 season will see the launch of MG’s Cyberster convertible, adding to their already impressive line-up of award-winning vehicles like the MG4 EV.

Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director at MG Motor UK, highlighted the mutual benefits of this alliance: “Joining Arsenal in our centenary year marks a significant chapter in MG’s story. We’re not just supporting a world-famous club; but aiming to drive forward the future of football by championing the growth of the women’s professional game and showing our passion for the greatest game on earth.”

This partnership marks a new chapter for Arsenal, following the end of their previous car sponsorship with Citroen in the 2016-17 season and a revoked deal with BYD. The Premier League currently boasts only a few car sponsorships, including those with Manchester United (Chevrolet), Manchester City (Nissan), and Tottenham Hotspur (Ineos Grenadier).

Additionally, Arsenal recently announced that Richard Garlick, the club’s director of football operations, will be taking over as the new managing director before the start of the 2024-25 season.

This move comes after the announcement of Vinai Venkatesham‘s planned exit last September.

Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing MG Motor’s brand showcased at both Emirates Stadium and Meadow Park, as well as content aimed at the club’s global supporter base.
