Ahead of the FA Cup match against Liverpool, Arsenal receive a potential boost as Jurgen Klopp confirms that Liverpool’s midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai, will be out with a hamstring injury.
Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s £60million midfielder, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, missing not only the upcoming game against Arsenal but also their crucial Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham.
Szoboszlai’s injury, sustained during Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Newcastle, sees him sidelined for at least the next two matches.
At his pre-Arsenal press conference, Jurgen Klopp said, “I can confirm it’s not a potential injury – it is an injury. Muscle, hamstring. But now we have to see.
“Dom is very positive, doesn’t have a lot of pain but we have to wait a little bit. So, no chance obviously for Sunday, not for Wednesday. No.
“And then we will see, after that hopefully he might be back but we don’t know.”
The Hungarian international’s absence could be a pivotal factor in the FA Cup tie, given his impressive performances since joining from RB Leipzig.
Szoboszlai has featured in all 20 Premier League games this term, bringing a dynamic presence to Liverpool’s midfield. His likely replacement, Alexis Mac Allister, is fit again but may not completely fill the void left by Szoboszlai’s injury.
Adding to Liverpool’s challenges, Mo Salah and Wataru Endo are away on international duty at AFCON and the Asian Cup, respectively.
Klopp said, “If I said if I wish you good luck it would be a lie!” acknowledging the impact of their absence on the team.
