Arsenal are reportedly expressing a renewed interest in Newcastle United’s striker Alexander Isak, sources close to FootballTransfers have revealed.

Although there’s no confirmation of an imminent January move, the Arsenal recruitment team, including Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu, are monitoring the Swedish striker, known for his time at Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund.

Isak, who joined Newcastle in a deal worth up to £63 million, has flourished in the Premier League, scoring 19 goals in 37 matches so far.

Arsenal had previously tried to sign Isak during the summer of 2022 to pair him with his former Sociedad teammate Martin Odegaard. However, concerns over his release clause led them to consider it too high, resulting in his move to Newcastle.

This interest in Isak dates back to 2016 when Arsenal eyed him as a potential signing from AIK Solna.

It is claimed in the report that, due to FFP issues, any Arsenal move would likely be in the summer while Newcastle sporting director, Dan Ashworth, admits the club will have to sell some players.

Isak is under contract with the Magpies until 2028 and reportedly earns around £120,000, making him their joint second highest earner along with Sandro Tonali and Kieran Trippier, but behind Bruno Guimaraes on £160,000.
