Arsenal are chasing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, according to a report from Germany.
German outlet Bild report that Arsenal are chasing Jeremie Frimpong, though they haven’t made a concrete offer for the player yet.
Fabrizio Romano reported in November that claims of a £34m release clause in Frimpong’s deal at Bayer Leverkusen are accurate, and he also confirmed that Arsenal have scouted the player in recent times.
A transfer in June is now reportedly likely, and he won’t be short of suitors given his form and his release clause.
Sky Sports Germany recently wrote that the signs were pointing towards a farewell between Frimpong and Leverkusen later this year.
Frimpong will be allowed to leave Leverkusen in the summer window, and Sky claim the 23-year-old wants to move on.
Frimpong only recently extended his contract, but it seems one of the consequences of that extension was the inclusion of this new release clause.
The wing-back has scored seven goals and providing nine assists in 22 games in all competitions this season. It’s little wonder the top clubs are starting to circle.
For the time being, Frimpong’s form is helping Leverkusen to fight on multiple fronts.
The team are top of the Bundesliga table, only dropping points in three draws. They won every Europa League group stage game so, and all of their cup ties.
