Arsenal’s efforts to sign Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are hampered by Manchester City’s strong position, as the player’s agent hints at City’s advantage in the summer transfer market.

Arsenal, along with other Premier League clubs, find themselves at a disadvantage in the race to sign Napoli‘s standout star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with Manchester City emerging as the front-runner.

The 22-year-old Georgian international has been a revelation for Napoli, contributing significantly to their success with 19 goals and 22 assists, a key factor in their first Serie A title win in 33 years.

Manchester City‘s interest in Kvaratskhelia has been evident, with the club reportedly sending scouts to observe his performance for Georgia against Spain in November.

This interest comes amidst a challenging season for Napoli, who find themselves in ninth place after 19 games, casting uncertainty over the futures of their key players, including Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen.

Napoli‘s efforts to secure Kvaratskhelia’s future with a new contract, potentially including a hefty release clause, have not deterred interest from top clubs.

Reports suggest a transfer fee in the range of £87 million to £100 million would be required.

However, Manchester City‘s pursuit has received a significant boost after comments made by Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli.

He stated, “Napoli increased [Victor] Osimhen’s contract, but Khvicha wouldn’t accept a transfer to Saudi even if he offered him a billion euros.

“For example, he would probably agree to play for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Manchester City.

“Khvicha has different desires and goals – he wants to succeed and he is already achieving it.”

This statement from the player’s agent underscores Kvaratskhelia’s aspirations and sets  clear preferences for his next potential destination, with Manchester City among his favoured choices.

For Arsenal, this development presents a significant challenge in their pursuit of the Napoli star, as they compete against the financial might and appeal of clubs like Manchester City in the summer transfer market.
